Discord
Our Discord server provides casual forums for discussion among group members who have attended at least a few events and proven that they share the values and behaviours of our code of conduct.
How to Join
The link below will direct you to the #getting-started channel. Your access to the rest of the server will be manually granted within 24 hours if you meet the following requirements:
- Acknowledge our Code of Conduct and attend a few meetups showing that you share our values.
- Your name on the server matches your meetup/real name so we know who you are and that you are an existing member of our group. If you play games online, feel free to include your online user name in brackets. If you belong to multiple servers, you can change this for only one server by right clicking on your name in the list of members and choosing "change nickname".
- React to the welcome message indicating the colour you reach for when sitting down to a game. Your reaction will be removed when access to the server is granted or denied.
General Information
There are a number of different channels within the server, each including a description of the content that is appropriate for that channel. When deciding where to post, always use the most specific one to help keep conversations separate and respect other member's notification settings.
Notifications: As with any online platform, the default notification settings can be overwhelming but you can customize your settings for each channel, category or server by right clicking on its name.
Threads: If posting something that will generate a discussion, post the topic or heading first, then hover over that post and use the "Create Thread" option to type your full message, allowing responses and notifications to be contained within that thread.
Voice Channels are available for anyone at anytime to chat with other people in the server.
Formatting options are described here.
