The Toronto Boardgamers are a volunteer-run community group of friendly folk who have a passion for discovering and playing modern boardgames. We gather at free, non-competitive events in Toronto, Ontario, Canada and stay in touch between events through multiple online platforms.
We treat each other with respect and welcome anyone who is interested in learning more about our hobby. Join us if you love learning new games, are excited to share your enthusiasm about games, and enjoy the social interaction of playing with others.

History
Our group was initially formed on the Meetup site in November 2008 as Toronto Boardgame & Social. The intention was, and remains, to provide an inclusive and non-judgmental environment for gamers of all experience levels at free events around the city.
In the early years, our calendar was filled with boardgaming events, dinners, sporting events, live theater and scavenger hunts. After a few years, other social meetup groups were becoming plentiful and we focused on establishing gaming events around the city.
In 2016, we changed the name of the group to the Toronto Boardgamers and our calendar had 6 weekly events, 4 monthly events and other ad-hoc gaming events, providing so many options for our 3,000 members to get together and play games anytime and anywhere that was convenient.
Like many social activities, these in-person events stopped in the spring of 2020 and we moved online, setting up a discord group and using voice chat and online gaming sites to stay connected. When things were reopening, we resumed our main weekly event at 401 Games and focused on improvements to the scheduling system but no longer had the hosts and energy to restart and continue the other events.
In the summer of 2024, we abandoned the Meetup group and have shifted to using this website along with the BoardGameGeek platform to organize our events instead.
